2. Tall Oregon Grape Apollo
Description:
Mahonia or Oregon grape is commonly found in gardens and parks growing as high as 1 - 2 metres with ever-green, leathery pinnate leaves, with a very shiny upper surface and a thorny toothed edge. Most commonly grows in clusters with numerous, erect, unbranched stems. It’s small bright yellow flowers are borne in long, upright racemes and later develop into blue, frost-covered berries which contain a dark-red juice. The berries are edible but sour and were used in the past to make wine and brandy. The bark of roots and stems contain alkaloids which have a number of therapeutic properties. In North American medicine, Mahonia aquifolium has been traditionally used to treat fever, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, gout, rheumatic ailments, but most prominently for skin complaints. However, only in the last five years have scientists discovered how and why this herbal extract is so beneficial for psoriasis sufferers. Mahonia is sun or shade, drought tolerant, grows well on dry to moist well drained sites. It can grow at high altitudes (up to 2000m) as the Rocky Mountains belong to its natural habitat. Good in hedge, good barrier plant. Because of its flowers and fruits Mahonia is great for a bird garden and a butterfly garden.

5. Tiffany Rose
Description:
This popular, exceptionally fragrant, pink rose has a hint of yellow at the base of the petals, giving the flower a warm glow. Blooms well all season on a vigorous, upright, medium to tall shrub. Bred to have perfect, exquisitely-formed buds and long cuttable stems, the base of the plants tend to be bare and have somewhat angular top growth. Because of their pruning and maintenance requirements, and for easy viewing, many gardeners grow them in formal rose beds. They are also grown in natural- or casual-style gardens. While leaving them accessible for pruning and care, mix them with other shrubs and perennials. This rose grows to a height of 1.2 to 1.5m and width of 1m. It prefers position if full sun. It is easy to grow and a good cut flower.

6. Tom Tom Rose
Description:
The Tom Tom is a neon deep pink floribunda border rose. Flowers very abundantly and repeatedly in flushes throughout the season from June to till frost. It has healthy and shining leaves. Grows vigorously upright and becomes very bushy and branched. Middle sized semi-double silky flowers of this floribunda appear in clusters. Abundant flowers shine in deep pink and produce a good scent especially in autumn. The Tom Tom rose excels in its rich blooms, strong healthy growth as well as in its illuminating power. It is a healthy rose widely resistant against fungi diseases otherwise occuring in roses quite often. Tom Tom requires a position in full sun and rich alkaline (lime containing) soil. In borders we plant 4 plants/m?. Grows up to 50-70cm. Growing is possible in temperature zone 6 and higher (most of Slovakia except coldest moutainous regions). Bred in USA (1957) by E.J. Lindquist. Parentage: Improved Lafayette × Floradora. It has to be pruned in March or April when we leave only 3-4 main branches and remove old ones and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. When doing so we only leave 2-4 buds on each stem while the last one of them always has to face outward from the shrub..

Trumpet Creepers are often grown with multiple trunks. Flowers best in a full sun location. The rapid growth makes it an excellent plant for covering fences, arbors or pergolas. Pruned in early winter. Minimal temperature -20 °C. Maximal height: 12 m.

8. Tiny Tim Dwarf Arborvitae
Description:
This American arborvitae cultivar is a very slow-growing, dwarf evergreen shrub with a globular, compact, finely-branched habit. Features scale-like, moderate green foliage in flat sprays. It is soft bright green in summer but turns bronzy in winter. In 10 years the whole plant grows to approximately 40-60cm wide and 30-50cm tall. It is very winterhardy and suitable for zones 2-8. Tolerates wide range of soils. Easily grown in average, moderate wet, well-drained soil. Will do well in full sun or partial shade but the foliage density loosens up in too much shade. Likes humid weather with regular rains. In hot and arid weather, periodic, deep waterings are advisable, especially when shrubs are grown as foundation plants. Appreciates a good root zone mulch. Prune in early spring before onset of new growth. Good dwarf specimen or accent. A compact neat habit makes this slow growing emerald green conifer ideal for the small garden or rockery. It can also be incorporated into the front of a foundation planting or used as a specimen in a container for the patio.

23. Teton Firethorn
Description:
Evergreen, dense, fast growing shrub of regular round habit and small oval dark green leaves. Grown for its dense inflorescences of small white flowers and masses of brightly coloured ball-shaped small fruits which surround the young branches all along their length. In case of Teton variety they are bright red-orange. They appear as green in Summer, change to orange in Autumn and remain on branches untill eaten by birds in Winter. Firethorn is therefore suitable for gardens where singing birds are welcomed and we want to help them in Winter. It is entirely frost hardy and has good resistence against urban polution. Excellent for planting impenetrable hedges retaining leaves also in Winter. It has sharp thorns on its branches therefore it is also pretty resistant against vandalism. It does not require any special soil and tolerates shade and wind exposed positions. Excellent for training on a wall of any aspect. Unpruned shrubs grow to around 2-3m.

24. Thornless Honeylocust
Description:
Winterhardheidszone: 5a
