Description:
This is a popular cultivar that typically reaches about 3.5m tall with a dense pyramidal growth habit. Very attractive evergreen when mature. The needles are a steely blue color. It has gray-brown bark that peels to show a useful red-orange color. Transplants easily. Prefers a well-drained, acidic soil. Grows best in full sun, is wind resistant and very tolerant of infertile and dry soils. It is a good choice for difficult sites. Cold hardy to zone 2 (-45 degrees Celsius). It makes an attractive specimen and good accent plant but is also effective in mass.
